Solsticio; 2022; video. Luna Carlos Armengod and Irene Fernández Arcas/ Documentation of the process and rituals made during 2020, 2021, 2022 by the two artists. Working together with dialogues, acrylic ink and silk inks on cotton, flowers, stones, candles, earth, ceramics, drawings, fruits.
This Project was a four-stage process through which we attempted to overcome our blockages and fears and transform them; shape them into something new, leaving the unnecessary behind and bringing the learnt experiences with us.
Stage 1. Acknowledge. Materialize.
Through rituals and dialogues we painted together the blockages/fears onto fabric, as a way of materialising them, in order to be able to work with them on a plastical way.
Stage 2 : Celebration
On Summer solstice, we built an altar to the materialised blockages/fears, and by doing so we acknowledge them, understand what they have meant for us, and why they are there. Called “Solsticio” this performative ritual was a one-day installation on water, created as a collaborative project. Inspired by the Mediterranean tradition of June 24, the exhibition celebrated the summer solstice. Visitors* were invited to come by the water and join the installation or celebration, bring a blockage or thought that they wanted to let go of and burn.
Stage 3: Let Go
The canvases, which were painted together by the two artists (and represent the materialised blockages, wounds and fears) were subsequently broken and arranged into looms. Breaking the canvas was a gesture of Letting go of what we don't need from those experiences.
Stage 4: Reshape / Transformation
Now free from unnecessary we transform those experiences and materials into something new. We do this by weaving a tapestry of the looms we created. That carpet will be a metaphorical transformation as resilience of their dialogues.
A Physical representation of the process of giving new shape to that what once prevented us from evolving.
Audio Poem
Mujer,
Juntamos manos

Visions retained in forgotten vases
that are released by the candlelights.
Colors, sketches and tears
that once awakened become laughter, joy and tender things.
And you, who are you?
The splendor of the storyteller.
Her,
who redoes knots and traumas
She who paints and laughs, tells and accompanies, caresses and calls.
Moonlight and dawn.
Among friends, between coffees and laughter
Bread with chocolate, car rides to nowhere.
Woman,
We join hands
